All the Fun of the Fair

Wealden Times Autumn… I mean Summer Fair!

Last weekend saw How Green brave the elements at Hole Park in Rolvenden, for the Wealden Times Summer Fair.

In the lead-up to the event we had the customary monsoon-like conditions we’ve been accustomed to this Summer! This made setting up our stand a little tricky, but the onset of the first trading day, the skies cleared and we all had a wonderful day.

With our backdrop, the stunning Hole Park stately home, the smell of sun tan lotion thick in the air, we all crossed fingers for three days of barmy weather! Alas no… the following day we had huge downpours and on the final day the fair almost blew away. R.I.P our gazebo!

Thank you for all your support to make our fair another successful event!

Open Weekend Take Two!

Great opportunity to visit our wholesale nursery.

How time flies! We already find ourselves in June and our second installment of open days is upon us. After the roaring success of our April dates, we welcome you to visit the nursery next weekend, June 16th and 17th. April was all about Spring, but this time round you will find a dazzling array of Summer plants in their prime all wanting a new home!

Celebrate with us our 30th anniversary as a business and choose from a huge range of perennials, grasses, alpines, herbs, veg, soft fruit, patio and topiary. Doors open 9am – 5pm on both days. Be there! Alternatively, if you can’t make our open days, why not visit us at The Wealden Times Summer Fair at Hole Park 0n 14th, 15th & 16th June.

Mud Glorious Mud… or It’s a Wash Out!

Visitor numbers down by 30% due to bad weather.

Last week, How Green Nursery attended the Penshurst Craft Fair with show gardens and plant stand. But, with weeks of endless rain the showground resembled a mud bath. Our van became stuck in the mire and had to be pulled out by a tractor and that was before the show had even started!

Freezing temperatures, grey skies and heavy showers didn’t deter the folk who braved the elements to come and see us though! We received plenty of positive feedback for our ‘Fire & Ice’ garden in conjunction with Chilstone from Langton Green.

We are pleased to announce that we have confirmed a pitch at the Wealden Times Summer Fair at the wonderful Hole Park. More details will be announced nearer the time.

Buy nice things, drink mulled wine and help charity!

Not content to rest on our laurels after the great success of the Wealden Times Fair, we will also be at the Penshurst Christmas Market this weekend! As if we aren’t busy enough with thousands of perennials, alpines and herbs to pot up!

It’s at the village hall on Friday 2nd (10.30am – 4pm, 7pm – 10pm) and Saturday 3rd (9.30am – 3pm). Being held for the first time this year, there’s over thirty stalls all selling Christmasy goods plus free parking, which is a bonus. On Saturday, at around Midday, the fabulous Tunbridge Wells Ukulele Night Thing (yes, that’s what they’re called!) will be accompanying all the shoppers with their fine tunes!

We’ll have a fine collection of topiary and festive planters on offer, and plenty of Christmas cheer. Hope to see you there!

The Wealden Times Midwinter Fair

It’s been one of those rare times of the year where we venture forth from the nursery to make ourselves known amongst the public, and we are just back from attending this year’s Wealden Times Midwinter Fair. A fair affair it was, and a fun time was had by all.

Held at the wonderful Bedgebury Pinetum, the event was bought forward by a week (24 - 26 Nov), to avoid the chaos due to the disastrously heavy snowfall last year. If you’ve never been, it’s a smashing show! Easy to get to (when not snowing), a lovely location and a great selection of home, garden and food related stands. All set-off with a really Christmassy feel!

Our stand was a little green oasis, even if we say so ourselves, and business was good, our festive topiary and bulb planters proving popular. Will definitely be back, and hope to see you there next year!
