It’s hard to believe another year has whistled by!
What a fantastic year 2017 has proved to be! We started early, back in February, with our garden design customers involved in some big projects which got the ball rolling. The garden centres then picked up as the weather improved in the spring.
Before we knew it, Chelsea Flower Show was upon us and we grew the plants for our good pals Chilstone and their beautiful trade stand. They were awarded the tremendous 5 star award! The same accolade was given to our customer Nic Howard and his fabulous garden, designed for the top sculptor David Harbor!
A warm (sometimes hot!) summer continued to see sales buoyant. This year we were involved with growing for a show garden at RHS Tatton Park for the first time. ‘Slow the Flow’ designed by John Everiss achieved a gold medal & Best in Show!
Our spring, summer & autumn Public Open Weekends were also amazingly supported (thank you!), with many new faces as well as our loyal bunch of followers! Many plants found new homes & a mountain of tea and homemade cake were consumed!
Autumn through to Christmas has been busier than ever for us! We now offer a plant sourcing service, offering trees, shrubs and hedging for our customers – we’ve found that the world is a small place! Hedging over 3 metres high, multistem & pleached trees being a firm favourite at the moment. We may be a specialist perennial grower, but we can now offer just about anything and provide our customers with the ‘one-stop shop’!!!
We have some sad news – Ted the nursery dog sadly passed away in November at the spritely age of 14. He will be sorely missed & now we’ll have to invest in a cake crumb hoover for our open weekends!
On a positive note, we have some lovely news to bring you! All being well, we’ll have a new addition to the How Green empire. Baby Sutcliffe is due in late March! Yippee!
