Potting up for the Potter’s Garden at Chelsea 2014

We have been growing for gold for the DialAFlight Potter’s Garden at RHS Chelsea

After growing for the Roger Platts gold medal winning garden at Chelsea last year, the stress and work involved meant we were a little reluctant to grow for Chelsea for a while! That was until our great friends Frankie and Emma from Nature Redesigned approached us about growing for their garden this year.

With it being cold and wet back in December and more importantly, a cracking little plan for an Artisan garden, how could we refuse! The garden is based around an abandoned brickworks and pottery after all the men have left for war and commemorates the centenary of the start of World War 1.

A planting plan was submitted and we started the process of growing and sourcing the plants needed. Progress back in January was swift, with many of the perennials to hand from our own stocks at the nursery. Other difficult to find plants such as Pimpinella rosea and Chaerophyllum roseum were sourced from as far away as Scotland!

The weather from the outset was very kind to us, being mild and dry following the appallingly wet winter. Conditions have remained unseasonably mild right the way through the growing process. This in itself has made keeping some plants in check very difficult, some more than three weeks ahead of schedule!

A few sleepless nights and a lot of juggling the stock around, we and more importantly the designers were very pleased with our efforts. We hope this is reflected in the finished garden which can be seen below. Good luck guys!
