Instagram post 2222171205862036097_2071959057 Here come the big guns! Our Alliums are waking up at a rate of knots with the mild weather. We grow thousands including this Ambassador cultivar in the foreground. Tall at around 120cm, it produces large blooms 20cm across. Slightly later in flowering from June to July best planted in full sun and well drained, fertile soil.

Instagram post 2222160037311207756_2071959057 It's rained non stop for two days, it's grey and gloomy yet Hellebores defy all the odds to put on a display! Our queen of a collage Lorraine put this nice little selection from the nursery together to cheer us all up! Singles, doubles and anemone centred flowers. We have plenty in stock at the moment.

Instagram post 2219636952691630544_2071959057 Hands up who's fed up with this dreary weather?! Despite the gloom, the mild temperatures are waking up our plants. Our Hellebores have started to do their thang! Fantastic early season plant for a range of flower colour, both single and double blooms. Plant in well fertile soil in shade/part shade - fully hardy. #herbaceousperennials #wholesalenursery #ukgrown #familybusiness #kent #helleborus #plant #spring
Instagram post 2219602219114832167_2071959057 One of our favourites for this time of year when it's dull and grey. Galanthus elwesii doing her thing when all around is bare! A tough and reliable bulb that flowers earlier than a lot of Snowdrops. Big flowers with lovely glaucus foliage. #snowdrops #wholesalenursery #kent #familybusiness #springbulbs

For the second consecutive year, we here at How Green are growing for the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show! Last year, we grew for Chelsea for the first time, for local designer Roger Platts. The famous saying by British rower Steve Redgrave after winning his fifth Olympic medal has never been more apt – ‘you have my permission to

Winter Jobs

As the days grow shorter and our plants start going into hibernation, it’s a time of year to catch up with maintenance jobs around the nursery! This year is no exception and with a very busy Autumn of plant sales we’re already behind with our chores! We have around two acres of glass houses which regularly need time spent with renovations. This past fortnight has seen the tedious task (not to mention dangerous!) of cleaning the glass. Over the year, algae build-up

Autumn – Hillcroft Revisited!

Seven months after our extensive planting project at Caterham on the Hill, we paid the site a visit, to see how it looked! Back in March, we were approached by Caterham Parish Council to deliver a new planting scheme at Hillcroft Corner, in the middle of Caterham on the Hill high street. The brief was simple. They wanted all the old woody shrubs replaced with something that would be very low maintenance, no watering and would look great all year

Heavenly Heucheras!

As Autumn approaches and many plants start to fade, give some time and space for a Heuchera or two! Being evergreen, they are a perfect perennial to plant now to give some colour through the gloomiest of months! We here at How Green have a thing for a Heuchera and their versatility is second to none. They work very well in pots and containers, either alone or used in a combination with other plants. They are equally at home in
