The Salutation Gardens are widely recognised as amongst the finest in the country and in 2019 they were awarded RHS Partner Garden status, making them part of an elite and exclusive club.

A plant lover’s paradise, designed in 1912 by architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, the 3.7 acres are divided into a series of symmetrical “rooms”.  The planting style is a dynamic infusion of old and new.

After 70 or so years of good order, the gardens fell into disrepair through a series of owners. In 2005, with new owners and a new Head Gardener at the helm, a huge restoration project was undertaken for both the house and the gardens.  With armfuls of research and spade in hand, Steve Edney set about creating the garden we see today, built upon the bones of the original, but with the planting itself allowed to develop creatively and spontaneously.
